Well this is interesting. The description (Sour Hazy IPA) is a contradiction in terms. Is it a Sour or is it an IPA. Oddly, it manages to achieve both.
I've had a few Sours before, and each of those was not to my taste at all. When I read the description this morning, I was a little let down. But, this is a month to explore new flavours, so here we are.
This is the first Sour i'd happily drink. It has a strong enough flavour that I'm not sure if I would order a second pint of it, but as a once every now and then kind of drink, this is nice.
The Brewdog website describes this as "grapefruit, blood orange and juicy peach notes layered over delicate funky undertones with a dry tart finish". My palette isn't refined enough to detect the individual flavours, but I can pick out the grapefruit and blood orange. The "dry tart finish" is very noticeable, and is the dominant after taste.
I find myself forgetting the flavour after a minute or two, and when taking another sip, being pleasantly surprised that I'm actually enjoying this Sour. I guess the "IPA" portion is what makes this palatable to me.
